Dogs are full of life and would require a whole lot of exercise
and activity in their life. If you have a small apartment, you
are now faced with the obligation of walking your dog or doing
some outdoor activities. That’s why it’s important to learn
more about the lifestyle of the dog before getting a cute puppy.
Now since
you’re stuck with the dog. You are now faced with the problem
of that obligation or be wise and figure out some activities
that will not require to go outside much.
There are
a whole lot of indoor activities to choose from to prevent you
and your dog going out; especially if the weather is extremely
bad. Here are some of the indoor activities that you can try.
Tug of
War:
People usually fear playing this game with the dog because the
dog might become aggressive. If done properly it could prevent
your dog from turning into a monster. Here are some tips when
playing tug of war with your dog.
1. Use a long rope to prevent accidental bites or intentional
bites when the dog becomes irritated. A good rope to use would
be one with a thick knot in the middle. You could also use a
tug toy.
2. Teach the dog commands such as “leave it” or “drop it” before
staring to play the game. Teaching these commands could also
be used aside from playing games. So that when the dog is playing
with a valuable possession, saying drop it will make the dog
leave the stuff alone.
3. If you have trained the dog to play tug, and he starts to
bite things away. Never pull the object out of his mouth, the
dog will only think that you are interested in playing.
4. When you are playing, take control of the game. When you
have had enough simply say “enough” to stop the game. When the
dog is starting to become too excited and is putting it’s mouth
on your hand, stop playing
5. When you are not playing, hide the toy very well. This helps
prevent the dog form bothering you from playing when you are
busy.
Hide and
Seek:
Hide and seek is much better if you are the one being found.
If you are the one trying to find your dog, you might be stressed
to know that the dog has run away. So when playing hide and
seek with your dog, it’s you hide yourself or the dog’s toys.
These are
only a couple of games that you can be able to play with your
dog indoors. If you are really lazy on some days, you can play
“dead” with you dog. Tell him that if he moves a lot he will
lose and won’t get any treats. Now you can relax and enjoy while
your dog is playing dead. |
